“Reimagining Melaka”, a music festival presented by Melaka Classics held from 29th June through 7th July, will feature a line-up of concerts and events that will bring to audience music from Portugal, Netherlands and England.
Melaka Classics is a non-profit organization that seeks to gather music lovers together. Director Cassel Krishnan spoke in an interview today, mentioning that in this second year of the music festival, Melaka Classics will present musicians from the Netherlands, Ukraine, England, Singapore and Malaysia for the local and international audience.
The theme for the festival this year is “Reimagining Melaka”, and Krishnan hopes that audiences will experience the history of the city and be transported back in time through music from Europe of the 16th through 20th centuries, as well as appreciate period instruments.
In addition, MPKK Kubu is one of the organizing partners of this music festival. Chairman Danny Sim Yong Seng says, the organization will support all events that promote the arts and culture, and concerts at the festival this year will also be presented at the Church, in consideration of the historical significance of the building. Regardless of religion, he hopes to welcome music lovers of various backgrounds to attend and support the festival.
