ABOUT THIS EVENT
The Historically-Informed Performance movement has been ongoing for about half a century, and as it gains traction around the world, its importance cannot be understated. Today, piano accompanists are expected to accompany instrumentalists and singers not just from the piano, but at times, from the harpsichord as well.
Conducted by RDB harpsichordist Gerald Lim, this workshop aims to equip pianists with a fundamental understanding in the mechanics and techniques of the harpsichord, and how they differ from the modern piano. Participants will also be introduced to basic Baroque sensibilities, how to accompany stylishly from a modern reduction score and how to accompany recitatives.
